This week is World Breastfeeding Week, a time to pause, connect, and reflect on how we support parents through one of the most intense, personal, and transformative parts of early parenthood: feeding.
For us, it’s a meaningful moment too. It's been one year since we became the new owners of The Lactation Station, and what a year it’s been.
This Week Isn’t About Pressure - It’s About Support
World Breastfeeding Week is often seen as a celebration of breastfeeding, and it is, but more than that, it’s a reminder of how much support families need, no matter how they’re feeding their babies.
We know that breastfeeding can be beautiful… and hard. That it’s not always possible, or straightforward. That some mama mourn the feeding journey they wanted, and others are still in the thick of it, navigating cluster feeds, pumping schedules, or latch struggles.
If that’s you; we see you. 💕
This week isn’t about idealising a feeding method. It’s about making sure that everyone who wants to breastfeed has access to support, encouragement, and community, because no one should have to figure it out alone.
What We’ve Learned (And Keep Learning)
Over the past year, we’ve had countless conversations with mums. Some celebrating small wins (like pumping enough for one full bottle, go you!), and some sharing heavy moments of frustration, grief, or self-doubt.
And if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s this: feeding is never just about food. It’s emotional. It’s tied to our sense of identity. It’s shaped by culture, circumstances, and mental health.
That’s why we’ll always stand for compassion over comparison. For options over opinions. For holding space over holding judgment.
What WBW Means to Us
The theme of this year’s World Breastfeeding Week is about strengthening workplace and community support - and we’re here for it. Because no one should feel they have to choose between feeding their baby and being able to work, rest, or show up in other parts of their life.
Whether you’re breastfeeding, expressing, mix feeding, or formula feeding with love, you deserve to feel supported.
This week, and always.
Thank you for being part of our community. We’re so grateful to be on this journey with you 💕
